Privacy policy
The short version: we collect the minimum, we sell nothing, and we do not follow you around the internet.
Who we are
Thornbury & Vale Architects Ltd, The Rope Works, 8 Silverthorne Lane, Bristol BS2 0QD. You can contact us about anything in this policy at studio@thornburyvale.example.
What we collect and why
Contact enquiries
When you use the contact form, phone or email us, we receive the details you choose to give (typically your name, contact details and your message). We use them only to answer your enquiry and to carry out any work you ask us to do.
Form submissions are also saved in a private database on this website's own server before the notification email is sent, so that a technical fault cannot lose your message. Those records are deleted automatically after six months, and sooner if you ask us to remove them. Enquiry emails themselves are kept for as long as we may reasonably need them and then deleted.
Website analytics
This website uses a small, self-hosted analytics tool. It counts page views and enquiries so we can tell which pages are useful. It works without analytics cookies and does not follow you to other websites.
When a page loads, your IP address and browser details are used briefly, in memory, to derive an anonymised code and to look up the approximate area the visit comes from (country and town, using a database held on this website's own server — no third-party service is contacted). The code changes every day and your IP address is not stored. This means we can see that "someone" visited and roughly where from, but not who, and we cannot recognise you from one day to the next.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses and requested pages) for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies
We set no advertising or analytics cookies. A strictly necessary session cookie is used only on the contact page while you send a message (it protects the form against abuse) and expires when you close your browser. Because we use no non-essential cookies, this site does not need a cookie banner.
Who we share information with
Nobody, except the services needed to run this website: our hosting provider and our email provider, who process data on our behalf. We never sell or rent your information.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email studio@thornburyvale.example and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we have handled your data.
Changes to this policy
If how we handle information changes, this page will be updated first. Last updated: 28 August 2026.
